During his State of the Union Address on January 30, President Trump remarked the U.S. Mission to the U.N. and our spending. He promised a new congressional bill that would ensure our funding would go to the “friends of America, not the enemies….” See the full paragraph below.


…I recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Shortly afterwards, dozens of countries voted in the United Nations General Assembly against America’s sovereign right to make this decision [moving the embassy in Israel]. In 2016, American taxpayers generously sent those same countries more than 20 billion dollars in aid. That is why tonight, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to help ensure foreign assistance dollars always serve American interests, and only go to friends of America, not enemies of America.
